Rubbing Pixels is an exciting new site that sets the benchmark in online video tutorials and related articles for landscape photographers of all experience levels. The site was founded by full time professional landscape photographer Matt Lauder when he identified a gap in the tutorials that were currently available.
Most tutorials seen by Matt had two main problems. Firstly poor quality images were being used in them so you couldn’t tell if a technique worked or not, the other was photographers seamed happy to share their knowledge in a tutorial but only to a certain point and tutorials had a nasty habit of jumping over key editing processes and suddenly things like a dull landscape looked fantastic and you had no idea how it was done and then they start looking at some other aspect of the shot, but your thinking “Hey I paid $10 to watch how this image was edited and you skipped most critical part.” !!
This websites function is to also bridge the gap between overly technical tutorials you might find on other sites and to show you how to use applications such as Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, Lightroom and other editing and development platforms without all the confusing jargon. Our tutorials use high quality captured images and show you how they are edited from start to finish. Nothing is skipped, nothing brushed over just everything you would expect from a tutorial saying “This is how I edited this photo”. Our tutorials have been described by customers as “A real world, down to earth use of techniques on realistic images”.
The site also boasts an excellent range of in the field tutorials showing you the behind the scenes look at how images are captured, the technique, capture work flow, equipment used and the mishaps that are part and parcel of shooting outdoors.
We have a section dedicated to beginners who look at applications like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Lightroom who scratch their heads wondering, where in the world do I even start. These tutorials will build up your skills so you get the most out of the other tutorials and masterclasses on the site.
Our tutorials are presented in video format and available for viewing in both HD and SD quality. The videos draw on the skills and knowledge of landscape photographers and industry based professionals who work in the field on a daily basis shooting, editing and creating images for themselves and others.
